On May 16th the Club is holding a Boat Naming Ceremony in honour of Professor Peter Charles Lewis.
Peter generously donated £20,000 to the University of Exeter, asking that part of his legacy be directed to the Rowing Club, which he captained during his time at Exeter.
A new eight has gratefully been purchased with his donation and will be named ‘Lewis’. Many of Peter’s family and friends will be at the event and would love the opportunity to meet current and past rowers to see the progress of the club today.
Please show your appreciation and support by attending the Naming Event on Saturday 16th May at 1pm. If you are able to come please click attending so we can have a rough approximation of numbers.
This donation highlights how the success of EUBC has been enhanced greatly by generosity like this from our alumni.
As many of you know we recently launched a special rowing fundraising appeal with the support of British Rowing Performance Director, Sir David Tanner, CBE and British rower and two time Olympic bronze medalist, Elise Laverick, to seek the support of alumni in helping to secure vital funds to allow the Club to replace its oldest boats.
As a result of this appeal we are very pleased to share with you an exciting initiative to match all future gifts to this appeal up to £12,500. Thanks to the generosity of an alumnus and former Boat Club member, all donations received from this appeal will be matched 1:1. In addition, if you are a UK tax payer we can also claim Gift Aid on your donation, meaning a donation of £100 would be worth £250 to our Boat Club.
