THE BARN THEATRE SOLSTICE SHOWCASE: 2015 ONE-ACT FESTIVAL
The Barn Theatre in Montville, New Jersey is holding open auditions for its 2015 One-Act Festival, featuring new theatrical works. Men and women, of various ages and ethnicities are needed to fill roles for original one-act plays.

FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE DATES:
Friday/Saturday/Sunday, June 12-14, 2015
Tech week will be Sunday and weekdays in the evening the week prior. (Actors should be available for ALL these days/times).
Rehearsals will be 2-3 times a week, as needed, and scheduled with your director/cast.

A suicidal man faces his decision head-on when he meets WWJD namesake, Jesus, and examines his life...
Directed by Henri (Hank) Barre
Mr. Barre has been an actor/director with Trilogy Repertory in Basking Ridge and with a variety of other theatre companies in NJ. He recently appeared at the Barn Theatre as Reverend Brown in Inherit the Wind.
GORDON – Male, about 30 to early 50's.
JESUS – Male, suggested late thirties, but could be almost any age.
DORIS – Female, the receptionist. Tough, no nonsense, brassy.
BOUNCER – Male, large, well-built, menacing-looking, but with the ability to suddenly change to pleasant-faced, warm and welcoming.
ROGER – GORDON's best friend. Male approximately same age as GORDON.
MARGARET – Female, GORDON's third and current wife.
DAD – Older Male, age appropriate to that for GORDON’s father.
DAUGHTER – Young girl, five to eight years old
“OTHERS” (in line with GORDON) – 5 to 8 additional actors. Various genders, ages, and types.

Ms. Ross lives in Newark, NJ and just finished directing Miss Julie for InterACT Theater in South Orange and earlier this season she directed Strollers production of Clybourne Park. She has been performing and/or directing for over 35 years throughout northern NJ and PA.

Ms. MacMillan is proud to be working on her 3rd season at The Barn, (God of Carnage, Run For Your Wife, Yankee Tavern). She has performed, designed and directed in the NY/NJ area for over 20 years, ran a summer stock theater in Maine, and spent 4 years as a casting associate on Broadway with Johnson-Liff.
LOIS KATZ — Children’s book writer and ex-wife to her former children’s book illustrator husband, Barrett “Doggs”. Loves her work.
Loves meeting and connecting with her readers. Accepts and loves everybody, even Barrett.
BARRETT DOGOVICH — Adult graphic novel illustrator and ex-husband to his former children’s book writer/partner, Lois Katz.
Very good at his work, but not passionate about it. Hates interacting with fans of his work. Cynical and jaded.
EDNA McDONALD — Owner/Publisher of Old McDonald’s Children’s Book Publishing. A hard-nosed and direct businesswoman.
“PARENT” —Non-speaking part, gender unspecific, (Scene 4 only)

LAST RITES; A One-Act by Omar Kozarsky An ailing uncle attempts to give his life meaning by applying to his younger family members...

Mr. Guadara has appeared on stage at the Barn since 2001, most recently as Millet in Fuddy Meers.
In addition to acting, he has painted and decorated sets for several Barn productions. He is also an active member of Out of Order Improv comedy troupe.
OSCAR – Male. Uncle to both Emily and Dylan. mid 60s-70
EMILY – His niece. Earlier 20s
DYLAN – His nephew. Older brother to Emily. Mid to last 20s
DR/LEADER – a doctor at the hospital. mid 60s

Ms. Moran Mills has appeared on stage, choreographed, crewed, and/or directed over 20 productions at the Barn since 1991. She is a director, teaching artist, educator, and dance instructor throughout NJ. Credits include work with The Women’s Theatre Company, Pushcart Players, Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, The Growing Stage, and The Mayo Center for the Arts.
KEN – Male. 20-50's

“MOM" – Female. KEN's Mom. 50-70's (Comparable age to KEN)

Actors are asked to arrive within the 90 minutes of the audition start time, and be prepared to stay.
Auditors are encouraged to prepare a short monologue.
New original scripts will be provided for cold readings/casting.
All roles are available and newcomers are especially welcomed.
Casting style will be is open forum, with all directors present.
