The Breakthrough Theatre of Winter Park will hold auditions for the William Hoffman drama, "As Is", on:
Saturday, June 13, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. OR
Sunday, June 14, from 6-8 p.m.
To audition, just show up anytime during those hours. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
The play will run 2 weekends:
July 10-13 and 16-20
(Thursday, Fridays, Saturday, and Mondays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.)
The director is Wade Hair.
Winner of the Obie and Drama Desk Awards, this powerful, deeply affecting play was originally presented Off-Broadway by the Circle Repertory Company, and then transferred to Broadway where it was nominated for a Tony Award. Centering on the relationship between an HIV-positive man and his ex-lover who returns to his side in his time of need, As Is portrays the confusion and fear that gripped the nation as the disease first spread. As Is is a bold, touching play that pays reverence to the resilience of those it affected with humor and compassion.

RICH (mid 20s to mid 30s) - a writer who contracts the AIDS virus
SAUL (mid 20s to mid 30s) - Rich's ex-lover who returns to care for him
HOSPICE WORKER (Female, 30-50) - opens and closes each act with monologues
CHET (early 20s) - Rich's new younger boyfriend
LILY (mid 20s to mid 30s) - an actress and friend of Rich and Saul
BROTHER (30s-40s) - Rich's older brother who has never been comfortable with Rich's lifestyle
2 men and 1 woman (any age) that will portray multiple characters: doctors, drug dealers, people with AIDS, nurses, hospital workers, AIDS hotline counselors, bartender, etc.
