Are you interested in structural engineering?
Do you want to learn about ground breaking research, being performed right here at Adelaide University?
Then this event is for you!
Mike Griffith completed his undergraduate degree and Masters in Civil Engineering at Washington State University. He then did a PhD in Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, investigating the area of earthquake resistant design and analysis of structures. Since then, he has undertaken significant research in seismic resistance of both masonry and concrete structures, publishing over 140 papers and attracted $4 million worth of research funding.
Mike Griffith is now a professor in the School of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering at the University of Adelaide. He has contributed to the development of both the Architectural and Mining Engineering courses, and runs the annual study tour to Christchurch, for students specialising in structural engineering. He has also taught seismic design to postgraduate students at the University of Patvia in Italy, in collaboration with experts from universities all around the world.
Come and hear Mike Griffith talk about his cutting-edge research at 1 pm, Friday May 28.
Nibbles will be provided. There is no fee for this event.
