May 25, 2015 - Memorial Day
Ceremony: 6:15pm - 7:30pm
Every year on Memorial Day, thousands gather together at Ala Moana Beach to honor those who came before us and laid a foundation for our lives. 6,000 candle-lit lanterns are set afloat on the ocean while a traditional Buddhist rite is performed. The ceremony, which includes hula, oli and taiko drumming, aims to harmonize elements from Hawaiian, Japanese, European and other world cultures.
