On Sunday May17th, the Ravena Coeymans Historical Society will present Richard Fuhrman, a former resident of the Town of Coeymans, as he leads an examination of the 1915 New York State Census and what it reveals about civic, social and economic life here. He will also address the diverse communities that dwelled side-by-side within the township.
Richard was born and raised in Ravena, graduating in the RCS Class of 1967. His late father and mother were John and Rosalie Fuhrman, the proprietors of the Ravena Inn and later, Martin’s Motel. He resides in Great Neck, Long Island with Hillary Light, his wife of 43 years.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University and a Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra University. During his career, he has been a multinational banker, an attorney and a financial advisor. Richard’s lifelong hobby has been family and local history. He has served as Deputy Governor of the Pilgrim Edward Doty Society. Edward Doty was one of his 10th great grandfathers. He has been an active member of the New York Genealogical Society, the New England Historic Genealogical , the Nassau County Historical Society, and now, the Ravena Coeymans Historical Society.
