We are sure you will enjoy our mixture of music; Rutter, Chilcott and Brahms, see further details of the pieces below. Rutter - Birthday Madrigals The Birthday Madrigals were written for a concert to honour the jazz pianist George Shearing's 75th birthday in 1995. 'They have the flavour of jazz, perhaps, but also of the Elizabethan era, the England of William Shakespeare, which George loved, and the texts all date from that period.' (John Rutter, Composer's Notes in Performance, Minneapolis, March 2014) Chilcott - Little Jazz Mass A Little Jazz Mass was composed by Bob Chilcott for the 2004 Crescent City Choral Festival, New Orleans and brings together two very diverse traditions - the Latin mass and jazz. Chilcott's experiences performing with George Shearing, Richard Rodney Bennett, John Dankworth, Art Farmer and the WDR Big Band made an impact on Chilcott's composition style and influenced A Little Jazz Mass. Brahms - Leibeslieder With echoes of Russian, Polish and Hungarian songs, these waltzes explore the subject of love in all its complex moods: passion, devotion, dejection and longing. Brahms chose his text from selections from Polydora: A World-Poetic Songbook by his favourite poet Georg Friedrich Daumer Saturday June 13, 2015 at 19:00 £12/£10 in advance, under 14s free Phone for tickets: 01274 591644 Other sources: choir members Book by email: Tickets "at the door" - until sold out For a map and further details please visit
