Rod Clements a founding member of Lindisfarne and is performing a gig for us at this fantastic venue Newbiggin Maritime Centre
He formed the folk-rock band Lindisfarne with Alan Hull in 1970, and wrote the classic "Meet Me On The Corner", a UK Top 5 hit in March 1972, which won Clements an Ivor Novello Award.
Clements' main role in Lindisfarne was that of bassist until 1990, when he moved to slide guitar and mandolin. Clements also played violin from time to time, most notably in the instrumental break of "Fog On The Tyne", both on stage and on disc.
He was honoured as a local hero recently. A plaque dedicated to Lindisfarne was unveiled in the Walk Of Fame on the quayside outside of The Sage Gateshead.
Rod has many solo albums and now internationally tours with his own material.
He is performing his own material for us this evening and will also throw in a few classics for good measure.
