On the eve of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series, we're celebrating our great sport with a free get together, taking a look at the hour record and the great 90's battle between Graeme Obree and Chris Boardman, just as Sir Bradley Wiggins and Alex Dowsett go into their own modern day contest. We're showing cycling films, 'Battle of the Bikes (Obree v Boardman), Manpower (1982 Milk Race) and finally a Q&A with Dean Downing, winner of five The Tour Series races in his career, plus a reception. A documentary following popular UK riders Chris Boardman and Graeme Obree as they build up in their own unique ways to each break the world hour record during a season in which interest in the hour record was reborn. 'Manpower' (1982 - 30 mins) Brilliant cinematography portraying the 1982 Milk Race, the original Tour of Britain which regularly visited Aberystwyth. The Soviet Union cycling team were at the height of their powers at this time and swept all before them. Featuring some great footage of Southgate, and Aberystwyth promenade.
