Dee Miller will share her tale, based on the real life 1863 raid on Lawrence Kansas, of a family caught in the midst of guerrilla warfare near the Kansas-Missouri border. This multi-media, interactive, kid-friendly program introduces Miller's characters, young Joshua and his family, and the turmoil that they faced when Order No. 11 was issued in response to aggression by pro-Confederate guerrillas. After the program, Ms. Miller will be signing copies of her book, Just Following Orders: Escape from Guerilla Warfare in 1863 in the museum's lobby.
The presentation is free, and open to the public, no reservations required. Admission will apply to the Jesse James Farm & Museum, including the traveling exhibit A State Divided: The Civil War in Missouri, and guided tours of the historic James Family home. Call (816)736-8500 for more information.
