Why make your Yoga hard work?
MOVEMENT - YOGA - SELF: Join Devi & Ross for a playful exploration of Functional Yoga.
Functional Yoga invites the body to move and rest in ways that are harmonious with it’s evolution. Avoiding ways of moving and resting that compromise, confuse, or completely halt that evolution. If we do not move, we are training ourselves away from functionality by inviting our body to adapt to a sedentary Devi functional yogalifestyle, which it will do. However, if we base our goals in fantasy and push ourselves too hard, we train ourselves away from functionality towards injury. The body will do this too, if we tell it. At this point in culture, we have all compromised our bodies a little. But when we approach our yoga practice through the lenses of ahimsa
(sensitivity) and satya (honesty) we can improve the functional evolution of our body.
Functional yoga posture practice does not look the same for any two individuals.
Morning: A playful & practical journey through the evolution of human movement.
We will revisit stages of development that we progressed through in the womb to access the ancient wisdom in our DNA. Exploring patterns of evolutionary movement that allow us to express ourselves fully as human animals.
Afternoon: Playfully moving towards wholeness.
An integration of the morning's exploration of human movement development into an honest yoga posture practice which is relevant to each individual.

About Devi Lewis:
Since her introduction to the yoga practices of asana, pranayam, mantra and meditation by her mother as a child in the 1970s, Devi has usedDevi
yoga as a form of self enquiry to explore and enjoy her experience of self-hood and life.
Blessed with wise and authentic teachers (from the disciplines of Classical Hatha Yoga, Tantra, Ayurveda, Iyengar Yoga and Dynamic Yoga) who facilitated her ability to cast aside cultural conditioning and be open to a direct interaction with life, Devi began to develop the art of FEELING NOW.
Currently teaching 12 yoga classes a week in the Preston, Chorley and Blackburn areas of Lancashire and offering private tuition in Feel Now Yoga studio in Whittle-le-Woods, Devi serves a diverse range of user groups, from those with profound physical and mental limitations to professional athletes (including Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers and Everton FCs).
Devi is insured and qualified with the British Wheel of Yoga. She is Editor of the BWY publication 'Yoga: The World Over' and has been delivering BWY Foundation Courses since 2008.
About Ross Dixon:
Ross’ life has been a bridging of the inner and outer worlds. Trained in Martial Arts, Human Movement, Philosophy, Music, Writing and Yoga; Ross brings an integrated perspective to the art of Feeling Now. From a lifetime of self study, his journey moves increasingly inward. Feeling Now is the only practise that has reality for him, everything else is theory and therefore abstract. Whatever this practise looks like from the outside (sitting, moving, cooking, writing, playing, everyday life), lucidity of presence can only be achieved when the mind achieves honest dialogue with the body, regardless of what is going on around us.
Ross has taught Swimming, Music, Philosophy and Life Coaching in previous professional incarnations. In September 2013, Ross led his first Yoga Workshop day at Brantwood in Coniston.
From the way a body moves and supports itself, Ross interprets the various signals (sensations, sounds and sights) and seeks safe, nourishing ways to reclaim structural integrity with a spirit of exploration.
Ross teaches human movement at Feel Now Yoga studio in Whittle-le-Woods. In February 2014, he completed a 1 year Intensive Yoga Teaching Apprenticeship with yoga Devi.
