Last year my Dad, Francis Davis, suffered an extremely terrible road accident in Portugal; with near death injuries. This year he turns 50 and he wants to ride 50 miles to raise funds for the hospital that literally saved his life! He is asking for any financial donation that can be made to raise the money the hospital desperately needs to purchase life saving equipment, like the ones that helped save my Dad. Please give what you can!
Here is his message:
7th May 2014 Francis Davis, a member of the WSJCC (Local Cycling Club), a resident of Evesham, and a father to four girls, was involved in a serious road accident whilst cycling in Porto, Portugal. Suffering severe, near fatal injuries (a dislocated shoulder, three cracked ribs, 6 broken or chipped vertebrae [T12, L1 to L5], shattered sacrum, coccyx, and an open book fracture to the pelvis, along with organ damage and severed femoral arteries.) Having been admitted to the Hospital San Antonio in Porto within a very short space of time, they literally saved his life, through a series of operations, time in the intensive care unit (ICU) and then the Orthopaedic wards there in Porto, until he was strong enough to travel home in an air ambulance, and continue his care in UK hospitals, before finally coming home months later to begin rehabilitation which continues to this day. In fact Francis' recovery has been remarkable, so much so that on his 50th birthday on 30th May 2015 he has invited 50 friends to ride 50 miles with him to raise funds to buy the hospital vital equipment so that their excellent work can continue. Please sponsor the group.
Please comment below or PM me with any donation amount you would like to give and I will write it on the donation list for you. (Donations will be collected nearer the time of the ride.)
Please spread the word and tell your friends, families and colleagues!
