FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“Creating Better Health and Wellness, for Our Communities & Our Environment”
Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Essex County College, 303 University Avenue, Newark, NJ 07103, the 3rd Annual Sustainable Living Empowerment Conference presents 6 inspiring speakers, 8 thought-provoking roundtable discussions, and an eco-art exhibit featuring Maggie Brown & Roxana Z. Marroquin starting at 10:00 a.m., ending at 6:00 p.m.
The purpose of this conference is to spotlight the Essex County Health Collective (ECHC) and to further our discussion on "creating better health and wellness, for our communities and our environment."
Attendees will be inspired and empowered through presentations and roundtable discussions in a way where they become active participants toward the goal of building healthy, sustainable communities. Empowerment is a multidimensional social process that helps people gain control over their own lives. It is a process that fosters power in people for use in their own lives, communities and in society by acting on issues they define as important.
Free and open to the public, this event is being organized by Newark Science and Sustainability, Inc. [Newark SAS] with the support of Essex County College's Communications, New Media Technology and Digital Media & Electronic Publishing Programs. Taking the approach of social entrepreneurship, Newark SAS is a community-driven, 501c3 nonprofit organization that strive to assist with the creation of self-sustaining communities by developing pathways for green jobs that contribute to self-sufficiency and community empowerment.
This event is free and open to the public. Volunteers are welcomed, donations are accepted.
