from Rain Aronson -
For me yoga is a celebration of life today - a challenging, rewarding and fleeting gift. I am first a student of yoga.
Before being invited to teach public classes, workshops and teacher trainings in Shanghai 11 years ago, I taught extensively in the United States, Hong Kong and my home country South Africa.
It was a valuable stepping stone to start out teaching as fully certified Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga teacher - it helped to build right discipline and fueled an ongoing fire to learn.
As the years rolled by I changed my practice to accomodate my maturing body. At the time it was a natural choice to also slowly develop as a traditional Hatha Yoga teacher.
Whenever I crossed paths with Iyengar yoga along the way, the intelligence of the methodology always appealed, but it wasn't until an unexpectedly direct and personal chat with Mr Iyengar many years ago, that I chose to adjust my study focus.
Today I am immensely grateful to have the health of body and mind to continue studying, and to still be guided in exploring the full spectrum of the subject.
B.K.S Iyengar, in his generosity, left us with an enormous amount of work to still develop. Teachers and bright lights always come and go, but the tradition of yoga continues.
Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.
