Our Inheritance of Health &
How It Shapes Future Generations
Tony Tyler, Redwood Nutrition
Common sense and medical science tell us that our health today depends on the past health of our families and its environment. In turn, the health of our children in the future depends on the choices we make now. While the modern world has very much altered the nature of the diseases we experience, we can and should use a variety of traditional and holistic strategies to ensure optimal wellness for ourselves and our families. Creating health begins with creating an awareness of the ways in which our health is, literally, passed down from each generation to the next. This talk will present some practical ways to change your lifestyle and diet now to create the best possible future for your children.

Craig Strong, resident marine biologist
Our local Pacific ocean affects many qualities of life for Del Norte County residents, from rich fishing grounds to abundant wildlife to a lush intertidal. Beyond being a barrier, resource, playland, and inspiration, what is going on out in those waters? And, what will our largest neighbor to the west bring us in coming years?
Craig strong is a resident marine biologist of 22 years. With a focus on seabirds, he has studied the near shore environment along much of the Pacific Northwest.
A Sustainable Food-ture Is Growing Now!
Kristen Reya Steele, Eden Regeneration Alliance
Industrial Agriculture has resulted in massive planetary deforestation, loss of animal habitat, food insecurity, and the growing obesity epidemic. But seeds of a new food paradigm are being sown. Kristen Reya Steele, Creative Director of Eden Regeneration Alliance, gives a preview of her upcoming book discussing the state of food and the growing movement for planting food forests where people live, work, and play. Communities across the world are planting fruit in civic places, cultivating forests of food, and inviting people to harvest for free! Steele shares five stories that will leave you inspired to pick up a shovel, and plant some seeds!
Derrick Jensen, resident author & environmental philosopher
Derrick Jensen is a coauthor of Deep Green Resistance, and the author of Endgame, The Culture of Make Believe, A Language Older than Words, and many other books. He was named one of Utne Reader’s “50 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World” and won the Eric Hoffer Award in 2008. He has written for Orion, Audubon, and The Sun Magazine, among many others. In this talk we will prod him to give us hope and inspire us to action in the face of bleak realities.
