As an annual event, Sheep Dog members and volunteers gather at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville on the Saturday before Memorial Day to assist with placing American flags at each headstone. We invite and encourage anyone who would like to come out to join us on this day where we honor those who have defended our freedoms, and in many cases made the ultimate sacrifice. Afterwards, we will have a group visit the Veterans retirement home and VA hospital to shake hands and thank the Veterans living there. ALL are welcome. This is a terrific event and we highly encourage friends and family to participate. The event generally goes as follows:
8:15 am - show up (plan for parking time)
9:00 am - event kicks off (We will meet at the entrance to the cemetery)
11:00 am - event wraps up, take pictures, volunteers that want to participate will head to the VA retirement home/hospital
12:00 pm - regroup and visit with Veterans
1:00-1:30 pm - visitation wraps up and everyone goes on to have a great Memorial Day weekend
Flags are provided. This event literally costs nothing, but rewards so much.
We hope everyone can make it. Looking forward to seeing all of our Sheep Dogs and volunteers again this year!
