Our Ride Theme Continues: A Ride for Ride
You ride, they ride, everyone rides!
With the success of the 11th Annual Wear Yellow Ride, the theme for this year reflects the support that each cyclist will give to our Wear Yellow Cab Ride Program. The fee for each rider on the Wear Yellow Ride will support one cab ride for a cancer patient who may not have adequate transportation to get to their treatments.
Wear Yellow Nebraska will be hosting the 12th Annual Wear Yellow Ride on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Strategic Air & Space Museum, Ashland, Nebraska. The bike tour aims to raise funds and awareness for Wear Yellow Nebraska which is a local grassroots organization fighting against cancer through advocacy, awareness and fundraising. We want to inspire others in the community to take action in our fight. Our mission is to unite Nebraskans in the fight against cancer through advocacy, awareness and fundraising.
From a short cruise down the highway to a scenic loop over hills and countryside, you can experience the very best of springtime in rural Nebraska.
For those craving roads, we offer 10, 22, 38, 51, and 62 mile options.
For those craving less formal roads, we’re excited to offer a brand new 42 mile gravel option.
For those craving roads on two legs, we invite you to participate in the approximate 5K walk & fun run.

Walk & Fun Run at 10:00AM
With the success of last year’s inaugural run, we’re excited to host our non-cycling friends again. Those who come out to the Wear Yellow Ride to support their cyclists and enjoy the event can once again lace up their walking/jogging/running shoes to help their fellow Nebraskans in the fight against cancer. The Fun Run & Walk will follow an approximate 3.8 mile course from the SAS Museum through the wide open spaces of Mahoney State Park. For those who want a little competition, the event will be (non-chip) timed. A Power stop will be included at the half way point.
Approximate Route: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/603885868
Everything closes at 1:00PM (courses and on course support, Expo Area, Power Stops and the Pancake Man). Please choose a route that you can complete by this allotted time.
We’ve now made fundraising even easier! For this year's event we've added the fundraising option for individuals or teams under the Donate tab. While not required, if you are interested in raising money for a great cause, click to start your own fundraising today.
Maybe you don’t ride a bike but know someone who does. Maybe you can’t ride this year but still want to support our cause. We’ve made that easy too! You can help support Wear Yellow Nebraska by registering as a Virtual Rider/Runner/Walker. You don’t have to actually ride, run, or walk, just support our organization and our event participants virtually.
The fee for Virtual Riders/Runners/Walkers is $30. And just like our other participants, you will be making a difference. The fee for each virtual rider also supports one cab ride through our Wear Yellow Cab Ride Program for a cancer patient who may not have adequate transportation to get to their treatments. Virtual Riders will also have the same fundraising opportunities as our event participants, including setting up your own fundraising team. You can register to become a Virtual Rider at any time up to the day of the event.

Everyone loves a raffle, and this year we’ve gone even bigger!
This year our Raffle Bike is the “Streaker” from Big Shot Bikes. Featuring a raw, 4130 chromoly frame, polished with a clear-coat finish, the Streaker has visible weld marks, accented by deep gold components. The frame sticks to the Big Shot track bike style, with minimal parts and components, giving the bike a super clean look. Nicknamed “Diamonds and Rust” around the shop, each Streaker frame has an industrial feel. With surface oxidation, scorch marks, and visible welds your Streaker will truly be one of kind.
• High Flange Hubs
• Hollow point drop outs
• Flip-Flop hub that lets you ride as a single speed or fixed gear
The Legendary Raffle gets its name from the legendary items that have been up for the taking over the past five years. It will start at 12:00 PM. We encourage you to browse our collection of amazing raffle packages and purchase your tickets early. Raffle tickets can be placed in the package bucket of your choosing. Purchase as many raffle tickets as you like to increase your chance of winning that package.
Post Ride Event:
Take your helmet off and stay awhile. Riders are encouraged to stick around after the ride for breakfast by the Pancake Man, our legendary raffle, and dozen of door prizes. Each paid registration will be granted free access to the museum following the event. If you have hungry family or friends who did not ride or run, they can purchase a breakfast from the Pancake Man for $5 each.
Need some food? Need some drink? Need some power? We’ve got you covered! All rides are on public roads and fully supported with water, Gatorade, and a variety of food at our Power-Stops. Check the course map for Power-Stop locations along your route.
Your bike is in great hands. Trek Bicycle Stores Omaha/Papillion, The Bike Way, and The Bike Rack are on board when you need support. They will be providing mechanical assistance to riders at various locations throughout the day. This includes how to change a tire, pump a tire, and perform minor drive train adjustments to keep you rolling to the finish.
Your participation is making a difference. 100% of our proceeds support Wear Yellow Nebraska’s cancer fighting and cancer patient assistance programs. This event specifically supports the Wear Yellow Cab Ride Program and the Wear Yellow Grant Program (see www.wearyellownebraska.org for more details).
